Personality/Background: Born in Japan to an Australian mother and a Japanese father, Daniel was named for both of his grandfathers. From an early age, he was drilled by his paternal grandfather in the ways of Iaido, a form of Japanese martial arts using the katana, and continued to practice with his father even after moving to Australia when he was eight. It was after moving to Australia that he gained a liking to horror films and stories... much to the chagrin of his younger brother. In fact it was while he was watching a horror movie featuring clowns that he inadvertently placed a fear of clowns within his brother; Shun had just entered the room when the clown had attacked its victim. Needless to say, after Shun left the room in tears, Daniel refused to watch horror films while is little brother was around for fear of hurting him more. Of course, his parents wouldn't yet allow him to stay home alone - especially to watch horror films - so his love of films died down for a bit. It was during that time that Daniel chose to watch Anime style shows... and he was instantly hooked.
Aside from horror films and anime, Daniel's other love was snowboarding. And, unlike with his Iaido training, he threw everything he could into the sport. His obvious love for the sport has landed him in international competitions including the Winter Olympics where he gained numerous silver and bronze medals but only two golds. He was 18 years old when he competed in his first Winter Olympic games. Unfortunately, his love of snowboarding also rivaled his love for his partner, Bria, and their relationship has been a little rocky because of it. But somehow, the two managed to patch things up before anything major happened between them.
To be honest, the two gold medals Daniel had won during his Winter Olympic Campaign also marked two very special moments in his life. After receiving his first gold medal, he immediately went over to where Bria was watching and went down on one knee. The medal wasn't an engagement ring as they had both decided to go looking for the perfect ring together, but when Daniel asked Bria to marry him just beyond the medal podiums and with the gold medal in his hand, his chosen girl could only say yes (after calling him an idiot for proposing on international television and with a gold medal instead of a ring). Needless to say, as soon as they were back home in Australia, they went shopping for the actual engagement ring.
Daniel's second gold medal was received not long before the birth of his last child, Ethan. In fact, not long after receiving the medal, Daniel received a message from home stating that Bria had gone into labour. Thankfully, the gold medal was the outcome of the last snowboarding event that Daniel had signed up for because as soon as he got the all clear from his trainer and the officials, he was on the next plane home to be by his wife's side. And when young Ethan was born, Daniel had a photo taken with his new son and sent it to everyone he knew - Including his trainer who was still at the Winter Olympic Games - completely forgetting that he was still wearing his newly won gold medal around his neck.
After one final Winter Olympic Games - which happened to be the games after Ethan was born - Daniel put up his snowboard and retired at the age of thirty four. As a birthday gift the next year, his older son, Ibuki (also known as Snowy) turned that same snowboard into an Olympic Medals Rack and framed it. Until the day he died as an old man in his nineties, Daniel cherished his Medal Rack to which he later added an image of his wife wearing the gold medal he had proposed to her with alongside the image of his youngest son being born shortly after he received his last gold medal and an image of his quadruplets wearing the first four medals he ever received (all silver); for only he knew that Bria and his children were the greatest medals he could have ever received in his entire life.
