Personality/Background: Jake is a native Mythos Islander with a relatively stable family. He is the second born child to his parents and the eldest son. He was originally a member of the Black Foxes group that was led by Andrew 'Arrow' Bennett while he was in high school, even going so far as to get a peregrine falcon morph and get given the nickname 'Jet'. But after realising that his leader had become obsessed with his now deceased cousin, he left the group. He was the first to do so. He was also the last of the Black Foxes members to join the Renegade Rebels, having doubts about joining yet another gang in fear of the same thing happening as before.
Yet it was after joining the Renegades that Jake realised that there was no need for the fear he had previously felt and even fell in love with fellow Renegades member, Rachel Channing. Of course, he had to wait a little while to see if Rachel became available as he started forming a crush on the young lady while she was already in a relationship with another Rebels member. But as soon as he realised what had happened and was able to see her again after she had run off, he was by her side and helping her through her ordeals.
A year after her break up, Jake and Rachel officially became a couple. They were happily together for two and a half years and were even expecting a child. But tragedy struck one fateful night when both Jake and Rachel were attacked by a rival gang on their way home from the park nearly eight months into Rachel's pregnancy. To be honest, Jake doesn't remember exactly what happened during the attack. What he does remember is that both he and Rachel were quite badly wounded. Somehow he managed to gain enough strength to fight off the attackers and get Rachel to safety and call an ambulance. Sadly, thanks to the attack, Jake's son, Peter, did not survive despite the emergency surgery Rachel underwent to bring him into the world as well as clean up her wounds.
The loss of his son hit Jake hard, but he knew he had to be strong for Rachel who was struggling with the news even more than he was. Alas, no matter how hard Jake tried to console his love and do things to help her with their loss, he quickly realised that what he was doing was not helping. So he wasn't as shocked as he should have been when, one morning, he awoke to find Rachel missing a month after the ordeal and found a letter for him explaining her absence. He did try looking for her, if only to confirm what he knew and felt, but he never did find her despite there being sightings of her by other Rebels members at the local shopping centre.
The combination of the attack and the loss of both his child and his love changed Jake. He started thinking of the world in a darker light, closing in on himself and often became unwilling to do things. In fact, if it weren't for Andrew and Dominic, who still remained Renegade members at this time, he would have become so recluse that he would have left the Renegades. It was because they constantly dragged him out of the house that he managed to relearn to tolerate other humans. And it was thanks to Zolo Rook urging him to do something to make him feel better about himself that he joined Zolo within the army ranks. He never did find another love, but after being medically discharged from the army after losing his right arm and eye in battle, he still liked to watch over the younger generations of the Rebels. And that is despite the fact that, due to his injuries, he can no longer morph.
