Personality/Background: Lakshmi was born a wild bengal tiger and is extremely proud to be one. Mention of even one back-handed comment of being wild or even being the biggest cat species can send her into an anger-filled frenzy. She is a fighter, always willing to protect that which she loves, and will not back down easily from a fight. She also tends to think of humans as evil beings, particularly men and especially wild males in general. Usually, she feels sorry for her partner, Iago, whenever he mentions that he was born in a zoo, as she believes being born wild is the most magical thing in the world, despite its hardships. however, she is quick to anger whenever he mentions that being born captive is better than being born wild due to the dangers of the wild. The ensuing arguments usually end up with Lakshmi kicking Iago out of the house for a few days until she has a chance to calm down.
After the birth of her cubs, Lakshmi does calm down a little but you still shouldn't get her angry. In fact, it is after the birth of her three sons that she starts seeing Iago in a new light, realising that all the arguing that the two had done in the past was actually starting to turn into something bigger and better than what she realised. Where before she wanted nothing to do with Iago, she realises that she has started growing used to him being around and eventually finding that she is, in fact, in love with him. To be honest, it was Iago who finds out that she is a good singer and storyteller, a trait passed down from her mother, and most of her songs and stories are those which had been passed down through the generations.
Quite early on in her new, human life, it is discovered that Lakshmi will not cook. In fact she fears the kitchen, not because of the fear of not being able to cook well (though she often uses that to her advantage) but because of the flames needed to use the gas stove that they have and the possibility of setting something on fire. Lakshmi, you see, has a natural fear of fire which has transferred - and perhaps even strengthened - to her human form. Though she never states why she has such a fear, most come to the conclusion that it is either due to her being a wild tiger born and raised or else something happened to her in her cubhood in order to fear fire.
